April '25 - Pre 7 (was 6)

There’s a new “full update” (that is, you need to download it thru the official channels from Apple or Google and not just inside the app).

There were some problems with maps and the upgrade to React Native 0.78, so instead of participating in the CQ WPX contest, I ended up spending the whole weekend changing the mapping engine to use Mapbox.

And now we have nicer maps, that can actually zoom out to show the entire Earth, and that perform much better, and that also work with React Native 0.78.

But this means we’ll have to do a few more days of testing before releasing April to the general public.

There was a minor snag with pre 6 and now there’s a pre 7 making its way through the review process at Apple and Google.

Pre7… interesting all the lines on the map are straight. They take very strange very long paths from VK to US and the map does not move whilst inside the tab. You need to go full screen to move it off the view of North Americ default. It would be good to have the map centre on the grid square of the operation to start with.

Pre 8… the map lines are better now but the map on Android at least does not move unless in full screen view mode

Pre 8 scroll seems to work fine for me on my phone and on an emulated android tablet.

Is this on split view?

Portrait, not split. It scrolls up and down ok but left and right makes the tab slide away

Non split screen landscape same behaviour

The map also always opens centered on Africa. Not sure why. Not GMT meridian… central african republic.

Ok i see now that it is initially opening on the calculated “centre” of all the qso limits. Interesting but might still be better to open on the activation gridsquare centered because in my case it opens with no dots visible because centre is africa with eu but VK is not in view at all. It would make more sense to scroll to view areas not near the operation grid imo.

Good point. I’ll look into it.

Also, try pre9 to see if it fixes the scrolling issues.

Yep scrolling is fixed… centering is wierd… for me

Thank you! It is awesome, 73 Sebastián
