You didn’t open the can of worms, @N4NB, I opened it myself and you just tripped on it.

I ended up taking the hard path and replaced the entire mapping component.

April '25 - Pre 6

There’s a new “full update” (that is, you need to download it thru the official channels from Apple or Google and not just inside the app). There were some problems with maps and the upgrade to React Native 0.78, so instead of participating in the CQ WPX contest, I ended up spending the whole weekend changing the mapping engine to use Mapbox. And now we have nicer maps, that can actually zoom out to show the entire Earth, and that perform much better, and that also work with React Native 0.78. …

Please give this new “pre” release a good shakedown.
