Hi guys I have been using Polo to log my Satellite operations, and I am impressed with it so far
I export the ADI file send it to my laptop sign it with TrustedQSL for lotw and upload the result. all done onmy android and my linux laptop. I then download from LOTW into my QRZ logbook.
So then I thought hey I will create a none SAT template foruse on 6m and 2m and 70cms
with call RST’s and Grid squares.
However when copy the satellite template to the new one and then disable the sat part, it takes away the grid locator entry box.
Is there anyway I can add the locator entry box back without enabling Satellite mode?
I have looked at the documentation but alas cant seem to find how to add the grid reference entry back.
Can Anybody offer a solution, as I really like Polo Ham2K
Yes I saw that in the more I can set my grid IO83va82
But How will that work with LOTW when there is no way to enter the worked stations Grid
As it will be wanting the Grid_Square As far as I can tell it will not extract the grid from the exchange label.
I do a lot of grid square working on vhf and up bands from 50m upwards.
And they are used to apply for awards etc.
From what I gather any qso’s uploaded would not get added to my grid square count etc.
There must be a way to add it else how did it get added to the satellite template?
YOUR grid is set in the operation - not the More tab. This value is exported as MY_GRIDSQUARE. It’s THEIR grid that is stored in the grid on the More tab.
The more tab is the only place atm to store THEIR grid for submission of awards where you need it exported in the ADIF export file.
Storing a grid in the exchange may be faster for entry purposes but you would need to manipulate the field columns in ADIF master prior to upload. e.g. by changing the column header from Exchange to GRIDSQUARE
If you have a QRZ paid subscription and use lookups, their grid will be populated for you. In cases where THEY are not at the location of their QRZ account, you would need to edit THEIR grid on the more tab. But, of course, any attempt by you to submit a grid for THEM will be overwritten by them when they submit their log. They are the authority of their grid, you are the authority of yours.
Ahh ok Alan, I was under the impression that LOTW checked my entry of their grid against their entry of there grid. and looked for a match. But if it doesnt then all is well with the world. I guess my idea of how it worked was flawed.I didnt mean to upset anyone or tread on any toes. I still love the program for its convenience for Satellite working.
Thanks for your response most appreciated.
Imagine this scenario. I am an unscrupulous operator. I have made 100 contacts with operators who always QSL via LOTW. So I put aside the next 100 QSOs and identify 100 grids I need for a grid award.
So I put those 100 grids into the 100 QSOs and submit them. If that’s all it takes for me to get those 100 grids, then something is wrong with the world. Wouldn’t you agree?
And there is no matching of grids going on at all. I still get a QSL from LOTW. In fact a GRIDSQUARE (i.e the grid you think THEY are in) field value is just discarded by LOTW. Only MY_GRIDSQUARE is recorded.
