Unknown Park

Hello,

I activated US-3140 Sand Bar State Park in VT. However, this park comes up as Unknown Park on POLO.

How can this be fixed?
Thank you!

its showing up on mine.

March '25 release (25.3.2)

The selection list is created via the live api call. The name in the operation is filled from the last downloaded parklist. With new parks there is a time difference between the live and downloaded cv file.
Bottom line:
it does NOT cause any issue other than cosmetic for the period of your activation. You know the name and the park number is correct and is all that is used for the log submission.
So you can ignore it or not let it worry you. Or you can remove and reselect the park later when it may be in the list which has been updated and downloaded.

Thank you for your input. As I am new to POTA and POLO, I just wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing something in my activation and logging. My activation was back in February and there have been a couple of app updates since then. And as I am still seeing the park as unknown, I thought I would report it.

ok it’s a cosmetic issue that may be addressed soon.
In the meantime, if you want to see the name, you need to de-select (remove it completely) it from the operation and then re-select it again.
This is assuming you have updated the POTA parks list in the meantime.
Alan

Thank you. That works!

Removed the park and then put in back in again.

Yeah, the name on the operation is only updated when you change something, so if you did not have downloaded data at the time you created it, it will not update when you download data later.

You have to do as you did, remove the park and add it again.

I have this particular issue in my list of things to look into, but it’s not the highest priority.

Great Thanks for your effort!

For me when adding a park to the new log it comes up and shows the the name, but on the operation page it shows unknown. Is this the same everyone is seeing?

There are 2 sources of data used for park names, one online and one offline. While the online list used for selecting a park nearest to you is used when creating a New Operation, The offline list is used for the park name in the Operation Header.
The key for you is that the park ID number is all that’s needed is used for exports etc. The park name is cosmetic only. So you are doing no harm by seeing “Unknown Park” in the header.
To fix the Unknown Park name, remove the park from your operation, update the parks list and reinstate the park to your operation.
The probability of this happening is higher when new parks are added after your last offline list download.

Tap and update here.

Here is an example. AU-10432 was the last park added to AU last night.
It is found by adding AU-10432 to a new operation, and the correct name " Cudgegong National Wild and Scenic River" is displayed after entering the AU number.
But after returning to the Operation details is is shown as Unknown

The Operation can proceed at this point with no ill effect.

But now if I go to the POTA parks list and update it. Then go back to the operation, remove and re-install AU-10432, the name appears on the Operation Title
