SOLVED: Help with moving an ADIF

I have my ADIFs on my iPad. I made an error with one of the four I need to upload. I saved it as the wrong date. So, I need to move it to my laptop where I have the ADIF editor. For whatever reason I am not being allowed to moved the ADIF by sending it as an attached file.

Is there a way to edit the file within Portable Logger Polo?

Thank you. David AE4LH

Sorry,

PoLo is not an ADIF editor. It creates ADIF files from your Operations. You can just re-generate the ADIF in question by exporting again. The default filenames are quite sufficient based on the operation date.

Is there a reason you think the date is not acceptable to anything? It’s just a file name for filing purposes. It does not effect anything with regard to uploading to programs like POTA.

Actually it’s not clear what you are trying to do or why.

A filename of any file can just be changed. You don’t need an ADIF Editor to change a filename.

Hi Alan, and others reading,

I need to move my ADIF from the iPad to my Windows laptop, so I can edit an ADIF. Each time I try to attach the ADIF to an email I get a message that the file cannot be attached.

So, until I figure out how to amend the ADIF I am not able to upload it to POTA.

Alan (and others reading), I “solved” my trouble by entering all of the contact info into AC Log…creating a new ADIF. I still don’t know how to move an ADIF from the iPad to the Windows laptop, but today’s issue is resolved.

OK well I’m glad you have solved your immediate issue.

But I’m sure you’d agree that the method you’ve resorted to here is clumsy and counter to why PoLo was invented.

So I know you are using iPad and Windows.

I will admit that there have been changes in iOS and email clients versions which have made attaching .adi files to an email troublesome. At best it is semi unreliable to some users.

The best and recommended way to make the transfer is use one of the cloud services available to you. Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive ( and even iCloud in your case).

Although not much different in the number of keystrokes to send, this method is faster and costs far fewer keystrokes on the receive end (your PC)..

Simply share the export (multiple files selected) with one of these services.

Within seconds, you will see these files in your file system on the PC (excluding iCloud which requires a little more work to re-access from Windows).

The files are already there for you to access and upload to POTA as well as import to ACLog if that is your wish to do. The need to open an email, select a folder and save the file is eliminated because the file is already there.

Hi Alan. I’m back on the iPad. I am so thankful for your wonderful suggestion. I will try it with tomorrow’s POTA activation (Support Your Parks). Thank you. Vy 73 de David AE4LH
