I’ve been having self spotting issues for my last half dozen activations over the past few weeks. I thought I was good to go self spotting on a peak the other day until I realized 45 minutes later that nothing spotted. I then self spotted via the SOTA SMS and all was ok.
In short, the self-spotting button disappeared from the list of buttons. I used the gear button on the right thinking that it might be hidden and I’d need to add it back, but there was self-spotting button to be found. I thought I could overcome this by entering QRV in the call sign box. That worked for a few activations then stopped working.
I had service on all these activations so I’m unsure what is going on. Although I send DE NG2E QRT QRT TU at the end of my activation, I like to spot that online for courtesy’s sake.
The self-spotting button disappeared? Are you sure you had added SOTA to your operation? The button won’t show up unless the operation has something to spot for.
What exact version are you running? You can get the full details on the Version screen in the main settings.
I am fully set up for SOTA… But your comment made me think of something: I went into the settings and saw that I was logged out of SOTA watch. I logged back in and, viola, the self spotting button is back.
My only guess is that I was logged out during the Jan 25 update?
I’m back out on two SOTAs again this weekend. I will let you know if there is a problem self-spotting even with the button now staring me in the face.
Due to the single sign-on that SOTA uses, you may find you have to log back in every 30 days. May be worth checking in settings now and again, or before you head out for activation.
