When I disable and re-enable, my Summit data is in place - it is not removed. So since your summits data is never present, it may be preventing you getting the spots.
@KI2D Sebastian, it appears that SOTA spots are not available to devices which cannot download the summits data. Is this correct?
Alan
I think the problem is not memory, but rather something to do with the SOTA API servers, and the older version of Android. Perhaps some SSL certificate requiring newer versions?
I think it might be related to this:
yeh maybe…
But that doesn’t explain why he has no SOTA spots.
And If I turn off SOTA I get no SOTA spots either.
His available memory seems fine.
Thanks both. Would the old SSL thing prevent from logging onto sotawatch? As I can log onto that fine from the tablet.
Would the SSL issue also prevent the 'Files - Big CTY’ data downloading?
Mike
The fact that you can load some data files but not others makes me think it’s likely that this is the cause.
Can you try to open Big CTY | Amateur Radio Country Files on Chrome? If that fails we’ll know for sure this is the reason.
But even if it works, it might be because Chrome has it’s own root certificates that have been updated separately from the underlying Android OS.
Yes that zip file downloads fine
Have you googled around to see if there’s a way to upgrade that tablet to a newer version of Android?
I did, but seemingly Huawei locked it all down meaning it’s not possible (I’m sure someone could but not with my technical skills!).
Not to worry, I really appreciate you and Alan looking into this for me
Hey @MW7MWZ. Try following this guide to install the extra certificate (Let Encrypt is what SOTA site uses), as that may resolve the issue for you.
If we can confirm this works, it might be worth adding it to Ham2K Portable Logger
I installed the new root certificate and it sadly hasn’t changed it - still cannot access SOTA information via Polo.
I even tried disabling all other certificates so just leaving the newly installed one, still made no difference.
Thanks for the suggestion, very much appreciated
