Parks in Canada aren’t searchable

I’m currently traveling in Canada but live and normally operate in the US. When I create an operation and try to add a POTA park to it, three things happen

  • It shows “no parks nearby” even if there are some nearby
  • When I search for parks by name, nothing matches. However, I can search for parks in the US by name successfully.
  • If I search for a specific park reference number, it will match. But not partially. Only once I’ve typed the full prefix and number does it match at all.

I haven’t been able to find any sort of country setting so I’m a bit stumped why this isn’t working. This all occurs on the iOS app.

What callsign have you entered into the Station Callsign?

The reason I ask is that when I operate in Timor-Leste - (even now when I try to) I enter 4W/VK1AO in the Station Callsign, then when I start to add a park, PoLo immediately starts listing parks with TL- prefix…

I had my American call sign in there. I just tried it with the /VE7 suffix appended that I need to use to operate in British Columbia. The behavior remains the same.

Ok, if I put KI2D/VE7 in the Station Callsign, then open the add Parks on the Air activity, and start typing Alak the list is immediately populated with CA parks containing those 4 letters.

At this point i do not have gps location set. So do you have your parks list refreshed?

Alan

Yes, I did download the latest parks list.

I think I’ve figured out the issue. Changing the call sign under the main Settings does not seem to affect an already created operation. I had to edit the call sign in the operation as well for it to start working. Once I did that, the park numbers for the corresponding country become searchable.

That’s correct. Thanks for the update.
