Mostly on the SOTA side here and exploring now Polo and its features. Using VK port-a-log so far and happy with it for SOTA.
In SOTA it is often possible to carry out more than one SOTA activation per calendar day. When logging such with Polo, is it absolutely mandatory to start a new operation for each new summit, or can I simply change the SOTA code (and ev. POTA code/s if necessary or eliminate one) at the next summit and continue as normal?
Does the Polo system handle such changes of an operation only going forward — or always retroactively back to QSO #1 of the current operation and falsifying the former records or any statistics?
I have seen that Polo allows activity updates (add, delete) during an operation, but I cannot oversee the consequences. Providing rationale/background of the Polo behavior would be appreciated to understand it correctly.
VK port-a-log allows continuing on the same internal log file and generates at the end of the day only 1 upload file (adif or csv) what is quick and easy.
PoLo is one (or one group of) references per activation/operation.
Changing a reference during an operation applies to all QSOs in that operation.
So start a new operation for each next SOTA summit.

I did realize yesterday ( by mistake) if you change OP Callsign or Station Callsign it will use that going forward but it wont modify the QSOs made before the switch. There is also a message to confirm this behavior as well. I know its not an activity but just something to note.
So there are items that are changed going forward (like callsigns) and others (like activities) that are changed retroactively upon a change. I am a bit confused now about the rules/principles for that.
Markus,
The callsign changes apply only to situations where a group of people activate together but use only one logging device. If this doesn’t apply to the way you operate, then you can forget about it.
Many people like to just keep their own logs regardless.
The change to activity applies in your case where you move from summit to summit. Just make a new operation each time.

Thanks, Alan. Each software has its own cosmos around. Diving here into Polo now, thanks for your explanations in a comprehensive way, even for minor topics - appreciated here.
