Hi everyone! I just created an account here. I’ve been a long time casual ragchew type operator from home. Last year I started working some POTA activators, and I may go out and do that in my future. Right now though, my wife and I are sailing the Maine coast for the summer. I found out about usislands.org, and got very excited about having my own mini dxpedition type events. I’m in the process of qualifying some of the many islands here. There is an enthusiastic group of island collectors, but certainly not as many activators as POTA/SOTA due to the difficult access to some of these islands. It does seem like this would be a good fit for POLO. Does anyone know if this has been considered?
We are always adding new programs.
We need a database of the entities which are part of the award program. It needs to be a publicly accessible resource so it can be downloaded on demand.
If you have a special place you spot yourself, that also helps.
The data of islands or entities needs to have certain fields which allow position selection and ID codes etc.
I do not see from the link above anywhere you spot to - maybe it’s just the DXCluster. We do not spot to the Cluster directly at this time.
I see the USI Directory flat file has codes and names but no location data.

Thanks Alan. I can check with the group folks as I get more involved. When I joined USI, I was sent a Slack invitation which is how they spot.
We have testing going on for spotting to Discord, but just my personal opinion, spotting to a more public place is better for the hobby because it’s more welcoming of newcomers. It shouldn’t be a private group getting spots… just my take on it. Not everyone wants to get on Slack or Discord etc… But bringing up a public website is there for everyone.

Gerry,
There is no issue you using PoLo right now via the Custom Activity. Something like this
Will generate an ADIF file which is quite likely acceptable to your awards program

Thanks Alan, yes, that’s my plan. I found the custom option while playing with it yesterday. It’s a neat app. Thank you!
