Log upload to QRZ.com won't work with slash portable after callsign

Hi PoLo,
When working with /P (portable) station callsign (LA6AFA/P), and no slash for operator callsign (LA6AFA), QRZ doesn’t accept uploading the log to my slash P logbook. I have two logbooks at QRZ.com, one for LA6AFA and one for LA6AFA/P, and the latter is intended for portable operations.
Because of this issue, I have to upload the log file (created in PoLO) to the LA6AFA logbook at QRZ.com. Then it is accepted. But this is not what I want.
What could be the problem?

I suspect that this is not a PoLo issue, but a callsign mismatch when uploading to QRZ.

What callsign did you log in PoLo with? That is the callsign that will be in the adif, and that is the callsogn that QRZ will use to match the logbook.

If you used LA6AFA and QRZ is looking for LA6AFA/P, then QRZ will have errors when uploading the adif, and the contacts will not show.

If you did not log using /P, then what I’d suggeat is making another QRZ log “LA6AFA Portable” or "LA6AFA POTA"using your regular callsign. You should be able to upload to it.

I used -w7 which allowed me to load into WFD.

POTA does work with EA7/VE3ips and ve3ips/w6

Update your POTA account with the portable call sign

One thing is many do not understand slash w7 or stroke whiskey 7 so I have to say I am portable many times.

In a pile up I may make 27 contacts and then QRT but if people understood then I could make 40

You need to do two things, add the secondary /P call sign to the QRZ account and also add a secondary logbook for xxxxx/P. I had the same problem long ago but soon backed out of having a secondary callsign as managing two logbooks gave me a headache.

You can transcribe manually as /P in in a non /P logbook obviously, but not via an adif file unless edited which would lose your QSO links.

I choose as many others to operate portable without the /P. If you’re in a park, mountain, flower bed or bunker were hardly sat in an office chair.

If a large log I’d transcribe this one into your non /P for now and drop the /P in future.

Thanks alot, Gavin!

They worked fine with POTA and SOTA uploads

But yes ensure your app supports it and add your /w7

No need to add the /P

Dag.

If you activate the comments column in the QRZ logbook, top right, I then use the comments column to describe the QSO. For possible repeat locations or activations I add a separate number at the end for 1st 2nd 3rd activation etc which can be done with Adif Master before uploading.

See Alans answer below re editing PoLo templates.

Good luck.

Gavin,

you will save yourself a lot of typing for each operation is you just use the template fields.

{{#join op.refs separator=", " final=" & "}}{{or longLabel label key}}{{/join}}

Thanks Alan that works a treat.

I could then insert the sequence number using Adif Master and continue to upload. I run adifs through this in any case.

My above post has been edited to reflect this.

Thanks again.

Gavin.
