Locator Problem

A friend reported that my /P locator was incorrect. When I looked into QRZ, indeed it was not right.
I have changed the QRZ data, but PoLo shows me 112 miles from home.
I did a clean load of PoLo - no change. Then turned off QRZ lookup - still no change.
Is as if there is something internal to PoLo. No adif loaded.

Home logger shows correctly

My home call is spot on.
Call G7ORH/P is the problem.

Not totally sure what you are getting at.
But how many characters are you using in PoLo for your maidenhead? 4 or 6?

For distance calculation your position is the centroid of the maidenhead.
I think you need to explain more with some references to your location.

What results are you seeing?

When you enter a /P call (or any other hint that you’re operating portable, mobile, maritime, etc) PoLo ignores any location information from QRZ.

If I enter your home call I get “England - Woodhall Spa”, and as soon as I add the /P it goes to just “[Portable] England”

Sorry for not being clearer.

I have a secondary QRZ account for my /P call. The location is set to my home at IO93vd.

It was pointed out that when mapped on PoLo, my location showed 112 miles away.

I use a six digit Maidenhead locator.

So with a clean install of PoLo, no QRZ enabled, my /P is still located elsewhere. Where is PoLo getting the data from?

Let’s start with this. When I look you up on QRZ your G7ORH has IO93vd

and when I lookup your G7ORH record it also has IO93vd as the recorded location, Pins are slightly different but grid is identical

When someone pulls this grid from QRZ, the pin for your location on their MAP is calculated by the centroid of the grid. NOT the lat/long of the pin you install on YOUR qrz page.
Alan

If you want someone to map you in an exact location, then you need to give them your exact 6 or 8 character grid square over the air, then they need to go to the More tab/button on the QSO, and enter that grid into YOUR grid square for the QSO. It’s a manual task in this instance.
Then THEIR map will show you in that location.
The next person logging you may not go to this trouble, and you will be located on their map, in the centroid of IO93vd.
And this assumes these other people all have paid subscriptions to QRZ. With a free account, there is no gridsquare coming back for a lookup of your callsign.
