Today I took a brief road trip to activate a POTA entity in Washington State for the club. I chose Forr Vancouver for its convenience to access from the freeway and it was the first POTA entity I got to after crossing the border from Oregon to Washington.
I expected the weather to be rather wet and windy based on December in the Pacific Northwest and proximity to the river. It was actually quite pleasant.
I operated the club call out of my mobile setup which is an 891, LDG RT100 feeding into body mounted 102” whip.
I made contacts on 40, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10 and 2 meters. I also tried 6m and 72 centimeters but was skunked on those bands so I didn’t attend 30 or 60 meter band contacts either.
This was my first time at the fort but I’ll definitely be back. For more POTA and exploring.
