K2HRC at US-5510, US-9935 Conway-Robinson State Forest in Virginia

Went to to Conway-Robinson State Forest in Gainesville, Virginia yesterday (11/30). Was going to just make a “few” contacts but ended up collecting 160 on 40 CW/SSB and 20 CW/SSB. I got my first KILO at this park and a few of the POTA “regulars” have gotten together too hide some pre-hung ropes in the trees to make it easier to get up a wire antenna. They have been up there about a year and so far no one has discovered them or tried to take them down. The bands were in exceptional condition and I was able to work the Western MidWest and several European stations. The park has a relatively small parking area and is mostly large oak trees throughout with a few concrete picnic tables. There is a gazebo also where I have previously operated and there is a second set of pull ropes in that area as well. Anyone wishing to go to this park can contact me and I’ll be happy to show you where the ropes are.
