Generic Simple Contest

I see with the March 25 release that there is the new option for a “Generic Simple Contest”. When I select it there are two fields presented “Contest Identifier” and “Exchange Sent”. What are the options available for these two fields?
I’m interested in doing the WPX SSB contest this weekend. The contest identifier is 291 for cabrillo or CQ-WPX-SSB for ADIF. It seems that either is what I’m put in the “Contest Identifier” field. But for the “Exchange Sent”, I don’t know what to put in there to automatically increment the serial number I send.
I’m also planning on camping in a POTA park during this contest so I wanted to do a combo POTA/WPX. It seems the exchange field is automatically used for the state when both “Simple Generic Contest” and “POTA” are added if I leave the exchange field empty in simple generic contest.

Thanks for the assist!

Sadly, the Simple Contest module does not (yet) support exchanging sequential numbers, which is required by WPX.

You can use the exchange field to enter sequence numbers received. In theory you can also use it to write down the sequence you send out, but you’d have to keep track of those numbers yourself, and you’ll have to manually edit the final Cabrillo file to put the data in the right place.

The sequential number you hand out will be the QSO count - shown at the top of the screen + 1. The QSOs always remain in date time order so the numbers you hand out should be easy to apply.

Meanwhile, thank you for developing this wonderful program. My request related to the topic of both incoming and outgoing sequence number is to give the possibility to include the two fields among those that can be added in the main screen. This way they would be easy to fill in while now you have to open the detail each time which wastes a lot of time and you may lose the data. Thank you very much for your work.

I’ve started working on sequencial number logging, to support some of the QSO Parties. Once I get that working correctly, I’ll add it to the generic contest module.

Thank you so much for your kind response. I’m looking forward for your great work

Hello Sebastián, this weekend is IOTA contest I try use the number rows +1 for this contest.

Hello dev team, I wanted to check back in to see if the Generic Simple Contest now has the ability to automatically increment sequential numbering? If so, how to activate? Wanting to do a POTA camping trip and the end of the month and do a combo POTA/CQ-WPX-SSB contest. Thanks all. KK7PZE

No, but it’s pretty simple to use this number +1 for the next exchange

Understood. You’ll see that I created this thread 1 year ago and saw your response at that time and appreciate the use suggestion. But, since KI2D said he was working on this in May 2025 I was looking for an update to see if this had been completed and if there there was a item/code that needed to enter into the Exchange Sent field to have it create the sequence numbers. I now understand that this hasn’t been coded yet. Thanks again! KK7PZE

I will let you know here when it comes - it’s not likely to happen now until after the desktop version comes out.
