These were in different parks with different grid squares.

General operations don’t use dupe rules like POTA operations.
Essentially, in a General Operation, you can log any amount of dupes that you like. It’s totally up to you.
The Dupe warnings are only that. They will never prevent logging.
In this instance you are indeed having the “New Reference” accurately alerted.
You can treat the Dupe warning as just that, It’s the same Callsign, Band, Mode on the same UTC day. So it’s up to you to decide what to do.
Even during an actvation, they are warnings only. They are intended to alert you to what might be a logging error i.e. have you forgotten to change the mode? etc.
It’s a little bit of a grey area as to whether in a General Operation the Dupe warning should even be there but it does not harm to alert you.

Seems like if you have something in the POTA field it should use that in dup checking.
