Just seen here on SOTA an activator correcting his callsign within some seconds with a new spot, since he had forgotten to enter the country prefix “DL/”:
Polo displayed this in the “SPOTS” section as an activation with 2 callsigns what is misleading:
What can I do to grab only one of these two callsigns (the right one!) in the “SPOTS” section to complete it with the reports and save it to my Polo operation?
Sorry Markus,
Software can only do so much to guess where errors are… you are in charge here. I’m afraid this one is down to you making some sound decisions.
Alan
Thanks, Alan, but I question why the Polo software shows this behavior and combines two same callsigns. That doesn’t make sense to me – the software “thinks too much” here in my opinion, hi. Is that really best practice?
Gosh Markus, there’s a bit fun going on here and also a bit of operator skill. I’m sure you can sort this sort of thing out. People make mistakes, we all do… Some OPs spot themselves in the wrong park or on the wrong mode… and you’ve got every chance to confirm things on air.
Do we question these OPs about best practice when they spot themselves incorrectly?
Good Luck
Alan
They are 2 materially separate callsigns operating on the same mode and frequency from the same summit. They are assumed to be 2 different operators that you can work over the air. This happens very frequently. So for economy they are combined into one spot, then separated back to make 2 QSOs.
When you tapped the spot, the “Their Call” entry would have had them both there for you to confirm before “sending them”.
You can delete one at that time and avoid saving both and deleting one.
It’s a feature which saves a lot of OPs a lot of time in typing in multiple callsigns. It’s very logical.
