Display Mode in the logging page

Hi Dev team

Is there scope to display the Mode of contact for each QSO in the logging page display?

On Sunday I made the terrible mistake of not updating the operating Mode when I changed bands from 2m FM to 40m SSB and logged all 28 QSOs as FM mode. Entirely my own fault.

Can the page real estate accommodate Mode?

The aspect ratio and size of many devices does not accommodate this extra column. It may look ok for you but many phone users cannot get this width especially when users increase their font size to accommodate poor sight etc.

There is a suggestion to colorise the frequency to map to mode which is still outstanding. This would alert you immediately to this issue.

Still to come
Alan

Thanks Alan

Is there scope to make the display of Mode optional via a check box in the settings page?

Turning the Numbers Row on and off is a User setting.

Allowing the user to display Mode may enhance the user experience.

There is no setting to do that atm

Hi Alan

Yes I know that. I’m asking if the dev team would consider having Mode as an optional user selection?

I would appreciate the opportunity for the dev team to look at my request.

I’ll let @KI2D Sebastian respond to this.
We have to remember that the current layout has been built to provide for a variety devices, across a myriad of resolutions and form factors. It has been built to switch between portrait and landscape and still not overwrite one column with another etc. And it has to accommodate split screens and single screen operation.
It might be tempting to think that adding just one more column is a two second job.
Alan

Alan VK1AO is right that this is not as simple as it seems.

I do want to come up with a good “framework” to allow more columns when the space allows, and Mode is obviously one of the most useful ones, so there’s a good chance we’ll see this soon.

I just don’t want to promise how soon.
