Add locator to SOTA log exports for new sotadata functionality

Hello.

A recent announcement shows that the sotadata db will make use of locators in logs.

If I have a QRZ xml subscription then polo will look up the locators.

At the moment if I export a SOTA log it doesn’t include the locators, only the RSTs as comments, and if I export a full log it doesn’t include the RSTs in the comments.

I’d like to keep the RSTs in the comments but also include the locators, so when I upload to sotadata it has all the information.

Thanks!

Hey @gm5alx. If you go into Settings, General Settings, Export Settings and then SOTA Activation (ADIF), you can enabled “Include Private Data” which should then include all the details including Grid Square in your ADIF SOTA file.

That’s great thanks! Probably explains why I thought the data used to be there but then stopped, probably coinciding with an update to customise the export.

This should be treated as a temporary fix for this specific SOTA import issue.
The reason private data was removed by default from exports used for u0pload was to comply with privacy regulations.
Now that SOTA are requiring a gridsquare, the upload logs may be changed to accommodate it.
But please be aware that the privacy issue remains.

I don’t think it’s required, more a nice to have for SOTA maps.

But yeah, this may come up a lot, so default adding grid square back in may be an option?

Making it a standard instead of an option would not IMO breach privacy and would avoid having yet another option switch to install and support/explain to users…
@KI2D … thoughts?

Given many Operators do not use or have a separate /P on QRZ it will just take the Station Home Locator…??

It happens more frequently than you think.
I recently thought I had my last State, “OR” for 17M WAS, a AA7 station.
on reading his QRZ page he notes: “Not in Oregon, I’m in New Jersey”

A bit late, but I’ve fixed this for 25.7.1. Won’t be available until next week, but the code is already in place.
