We have created the “Ham2K Amateur Radio Club” to promote the development of open source software for Amateur Radio operations.
The club holds the K2HRC callsign, and any member of the Ham2K community (and this is a loosely defined community) can apply to use it in an operation.
The only requirements (besides keeping it all within FCC rules and regulations) are:
- Only one operation using the callsign on the air at the same time. You must email club@ham2k.com or post here in the forums or on discord to coordinate.
- You have to log the operation (with PoLo or any other tool) and provide the logs back to the club.
- You have to write about the operation either here in the forums or on the discord server, or both. Preferably with pictures. At least a quick note, but we encourage you to hare as much as you can, since we’re all here to learn from each other.
- “No purchase necessary”
If you want to activate a POTA park, use K2HRC as your call on the air and set your own personal call as the “operator” in the logs. The POTA program will credit the QSOs and activation to both callsigns (but no P2Ps for you, sorry, that’s how POTA does it). You just cannot upload the log directly, and have to send it to the club to do it.
