Many apps are supporting T-Mobiles new satellite data(using Starlink). They seem very keen on developers making their apps compatible (low bandwidth). It would be amazing if this worked away from signals I you could spot yourself or see other spots!
Do you have any links with more details?
It seems slightly more closed off than when I first looked. They are requiring apps be very low bandwidth but I feel like Self-Spotting and seeing other spots is very low bandwidth.
You can email them at: SatelliteApps@T-Mobile.com
They are looking for outdoor use apps and this fits the bill.

I’ll add a little bit of my experience with my Starlink Mini that I run using the Standby Mode plan. $5 per month where you get unlimited low bandwidth. About 500Kb (.5Mb) up and down. I’ve used it twice for POTA camping trips where I had zero cell coverage so far. The low bandwidth was able to do QRZ lookups very quickly when entering callsigns in POLO. I could spot myself without issue in POLO. I was able to export my log into Dropbox and then upload it to POTA from my Samsung Tablet. I was able to use it to provide NTP clock sync for my stick PC for WSJT-X. And finally at night I was able to watch YouTube videos by setting the quality to the data saver mode. I sent and received texts on my iPhone, sent and received emails and was able to even do a WiFi based phone call. While the last items aren’t related to POLO it shows that even with this very low bandwidth plan I was able to completely POTA camp without issue. The only thing I can think of that I haven’t tried is to use the sync feature in POLO while on Starlink.

I watched that video a week or so ago and it only applies to “Residential” installs. It does NOT apply to the roam type devices/plans so not an issue. I don’t use the Starlink at home. I’ve got fiber to the home.
For fun, if you go to the starlink site and say you want a residential package, play around and change the zipcode to various parts of the country and watch what happens to the final price. The change is that surcharge which is basically the same thing they want to charge someone for again if they’ve been in standby too long to insure coverage/bandwidth for that location when they go back to full speed.

O.K… Just an observation.![]()
