Hi,
I have been using the PoLo Spots facility in the shack as I find the filters very useful. Today a couple of strange things occurred
A well know UKBOTA activator was spotted on the WWBOTA Cluster but never appeared on Polo Spots during his activation
Secondly, another UKBOTA activator spotted himself on the WWBOTA Cluster with his Bunker reference. This showed as a ‘New Bunker’ when it was not a new one - see picture
Was that G8XDD? Unfortunately there spot syntax wasn’t quite right for PoLo to pick up.
B/G- 1354,1427,1623,1512,1628 WAB SU60
The - between B/G and numbers is a case the reference extractor doesn’t cover. Just a dash or just a space would have been okay, but not both. I can look at updating the code to cover that for future cases.
(If interested, here is regex tester for current matching code can see removing space or dash (or both) causes matching to work)
Seems to be working here. I see Derek did a few activations today, or at least multiple spots?
It was indeed G8XDD - I didn’t see the extra space. Would the regex tester have fixed that? I realise that trapping for all errors is a bit of a task though.
Yes Derek did multiple activations, I believe the first two were both tagged as new bunkers in PoLo Spots. I know that the WWBOTA site has had issues recently, how does Spots recognise a new activation?
I did try to test as many examples as I could, but always will have edge cases. I’ll try to improve it where I can.
So it’s based on the current log/operation you have open. If the reference was the same as previous QSO with same callsign, it would have flagged as a duplicate, and if reference is different it’ll say new bunker.
Hi Steve, not sure on the logic there. If it’s a new day and my operation is empty, does the first bunker logged come up as a new bunker even if I have worked it many times before?
No, it shouldn’t display anything if it’s the first time you’ve worked that call in that operation.
The idea behind the feature was flagging up to an operator that they have a duplicate QSO in their activation. If it is a new band or new mode it’ll display saying that; or if it’s a new reference from when they previously worked them.
So for example, if I was on a POTA, working same call twice on same band and mode, that won’t count towards my POTA activation. But if they are at, for example, a different bunker than when I first worked them, it’ll display “New Bunker” rather than “Dupe”, as then I know it’s worth working them to get the new bunker (And similar for SOTA, WWFF, etc.)
