App restart after connecting/disconnecting a Bluetooth keyboard

Hi all

Something funny here . . .

I have a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard K780 at home that can be paired with several devices. I had bought a Samsung Galaxy A16 5G recently where I installed also Polo. This phone is paired with the K780 keyboard to assist easier typing. Android 15 on it and most recent Polo.

Just observed by incident that the Polo app throws an immediate restart (without any dialogue or warning) when I connect or disconnect the K780 keyboard to or from the phone.

Any idea? I don’t understand that

I would think this is normal considering the framework of PoLo and the need to reset peripheral devices.
It may be able to be “fixed” but it may not.
I don’t consider it a real issue though, unless something untoward was happening like data loss.
When I connect SmartFlow or Disconnect it, PoLo does the same thing, it restarts.
It is likely that all applications developed in React-Native does this.

Hello Alan

Thanks for your support. I agree that this is a minor general issue. But I would not consider this “normal”, since the reset is immediate and without a warning regarding not saved content. To my relief, a not saved QSO was still there when reentering Polo after this incident. So: well done, hi.

I have an iPhone paired with the same Bluetooth keyboard, and Polo on the iPhone shows here the expected action: connecting the keyboard lets the built-in keypad disappear, and disconnecting lets it reappear. No restart of the app.

To see clear on things I tested the behavior with another app that can modify text and chose the Editor app. And yes, also the editor restarted and asked me for restoring the not saved content. So I assume that this is a problem between the keyboard and Android phones, but not a problem with Polo itself.

Describing this here to give a hint to possible users facing the same problem. I save the time to investigate with Android and Logitech, since I don’t want to be between two tech windmills, hi.
